Maria De Stefano's background as a licensed Medical Laboratory Technologist, specialization Cytotechnology served as professional training towards her career as a biological Microscopist. She attained her education through the School of Cytotechnology at the city's Health Sciences Center in the Department of Pathology working as a cytotechnologist intern over 25 year ago. She attained her licensing from the Canadian Society of Laboratory Technology now known as the CSMLS. She worked with body fluids and cellular material preparation and microscopic analysis for diagnosis of atypical and cancerous cells.

Maria has always been a wellness education proponent and is often approached for guidance in this area. She saw a need for a wellness information resource and wellness hub where individuals could seek direction in their wellness journeys and through collaborative efforts with colleagues in the city she launched Nu View Wellness Centre in August 2023 and opened its doors in October 2023. She believes that education is the key to wellness and welcomes all who seek information and resources. She has been certified by the Centre for Higher Education Research and Development as an Administrator of College and University in 2011 CUCA Centre for Higher Education and Research Development certified.
